What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a highly effective treatment that uses thin, sterile needles to release tight muscle bands and trigger points - the "knots" that cause pain and restrict movement.
Targets the Source
Unlike medications that mask symptoms, dry needling addresses the actual muscle dysfunction causing your pain.
Quick Results
Many patients experience significant relief within minutes of treatment, with lasting improvements after 1-3 sessions.
Safe & Effective
Performed by a licensed physical therapist using sterile, single-use needles. Minimal side effects.
How Dry Needling Works
When a thin, sterile needle is inserted into a trigger point, it creates a "local twitch response" - a brief contraction followed by immediate relaxation of the muscle fibers.

Releases muscle tension and reduces tightness in affected areas
Promotes Healing

Reduces Pain
Decreases pain signaling to the brain for immediate relief

Frequently Asked Questions
Does dry needling hurt?
Most patients describe a mild discomfort or muscle twitch during insertion. The needles used are very thin - much thinner than injection needles. Many patients find the temporary discomfort well worth the relief they experience.
How is dry needling different from acupuncture?
While both use thin needles, they're based on different principles. Acupuncture follows traditional Chinese medicine meridian points, while dry needling targets specific trigger points in muscles based on Western medical science and anatomy.
How many sessions will I need?
Many patients experience significant relief after just 1-3 sessions. Chronic conditions may require more treatments. We'll give you an honest assessment during your consultation.
Are there any side effects?
You may experience mild soreness for 24-48 hours after treatment, similar to post-workout muscle soreness. Occasionally, minor bruising may occur. Serious side effects are very rare when performed by a trained professional.
Is dry needling covered by insurance?
We provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan. We're happy to help you understand your benefits.
